Initiating Development

From the Ground Up

  • To increase food supply by providing modern agricultural education.

  • To offer the rural villages of Sierra Leone our fully inclusive season-long classes to explain every aspect of agriculture; from planting to post-harvest handling.

  • We value transparency, honesty, and we work against societal norms of corruption. Growing the Grassroots is a family which combats inequality of opportunity in rural Sierra Leone.

  • Food is the baseline of humanity. Developing any other aspect of society is not possible without first achieving food security. Growing the Grassroots uses a bottom-up approach to empower rural farmers with modern agricultural practices. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, hands-on education to initiate sustainable development from the grassroots level.

Growing the Grassroots works to bring Norman Borlaug’s “Green Revolution” strategies to Africa. These strategies combine high-yielding seed varieties with modern agricultural production techniques.

We hope to bring quality agricultural education to every man, woman, and child in Sierra Leone one day.
